Co-presented by AIA San Francisco and the Center for Architecture + Design, Architecture + the City takes place in San Francisco every September and features our acclaimed San Francisco Living: Home Tours as well as other behind-the-scenes programs, walking tours, literature, exhibitions, presentations and more that provide an excellent opportunity for all communities to experience architecture and design in a myriad of ways throughout the city.
The Architecture + the City festival provides an excellent opportunity for all communities to experience architecture and design in a myriad of ways throughout the city. How can San Francisco be a more connected city? How can we address its challenges of housing, climate change, economic and health equity? How do we design with connection in mind, that is human-centered and focuses on health, inclusivity and resilience.
Every September, the festival reveals the many facets and layers of San Francisco, and how architecture and design play a key role in this ever-changing urban landscape. Millions of people from around the world visit San Francisco — a 49 square-mile city with a population of more than 800,000 comprised of artists, architects, designers, storytellers, students, and more — each with perspectives that contribute to the compelling and evolving narrative that makes this City so unique.
Your contribution and participation in engaging conversations will help shed light on how to increase connections in the present urban community. Whether you're a native San Franciscan, long-time resident, visiting from a neighboring city, or a tourist passing through, we hope you'll experience the City as it is today, and all that it could be in the future.
